Shi Chen graduated (BSc) from Peking University, China in 2006, and joined the Institute of Fluid Physics (IFP), China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), as a junior research staff member. He obtained a PhD in Physics from IFP, CAEP in 2013 with the thesis "Structures in High-Energy-Density Plasmas". In his thesis the generation of magnetic field as well as the modulation of surface charge density in plasmas under high-energy-density conditions are studied theoretically. He is currently on visiting research in the Plasma Physics group of the University of Milano. The main subject of his visiting research is the structure formation in non-neutral plasmas.
